REFUGEE, a documentary -- presented by NWAAFF 2004 and Rajana Society
REFUGEE, a documentary by Spencer Nakasako
* Presented by Northwest Asian American Film Festival 2004 and Rajana Society
* Sponsored by NWAAT and NAATA
* Hosted by Manuel Cawaling with special guests Mike Siv and Khmer American rapper Prach
Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with Northwest Asian American Film Festival 2004 and Rajana Society as we present a screening of Spencer Nakasako's acclaimed documentary REFUGEE.
For Mike Siv, the trip begins innocently enough. "Me and my homies, David and Paul, we're going to Cambodia. We'll see the sights, visit family, have some fun." But after their journey, they will never be the same. These three young refugees, raised on the streets of San Francisco's tough Tenderloin district, head back to Cambodia for the first time in REFUGEE, a new documentary by the Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Spencer Nakasako. Subject and co-editor Mike Siv will attend the screening.
In addition to REFUGEE, the evening will include a screening of Mike Siv's short documentary WHO I BECAME and a performance by Khmer American rapper Prach. After the program, Siv and Prach will participate in a question-and-answer session hosted by Manuel Cawaling.
