It Don't Mean a Thing, SWING DANCE
It will be the amazing Ray Skjelbred on piano. Ray is the real deal, with a left hand that could raise the dead. He was friends with early piano stars Jess Stacy (who played that awesome piano solo during "Sing Sing Sing" w/ Goodman's band at Carnegy Hall), Chicagoan Joe Sullivan, and none other than Earl "Fatha" Hines who once told Ray: "You're drinking on Fatha Hines tonight."
Jonathan Doyle will play reeds. Jonathan just relocated from Chicago to Port Townsend, and we are lucky to have him in the Northwest! He has played with everyone from Willie Nelson to Austin's Asylum Street Spankers to Chicago's great early jazz proponents, The Fat Babies.
Mike Daugherty lives here in Seattle, and is the source on all things swing! He leads a group called the Washboard Cutups, singing and holdin down on percussion.
"Black & Tan Hall Presents" will be presenting a variety of events as we lead up to the opening of our actual brick & mortar, Black & Tan Hall. But we're too eager to offer shows, so we'll be doing it in sister venues around town until we open.
Join us for this fantastic night of old skool swing tunes, and dance the night away! Dressing up is strongly encouraged!!
