Resist! An Introduction to Understanding (and Writing) Dystopian Fiction
LitSpace Literary Arts Institute at Morean Arts Center
Saint Petersburg, FL
Share this event:

Have you always wanted to write a dystopian novel, but you aren't sure where to start? In this two-hour lecture/workshop, we'll dive into dystopian literature to uncover its historical significance and surging popularity. Through film clips and novel excerpts, we'll explore the techniques authors use to build unique characters and settings, then try some in-class writing exercises of our own. You can be a rabid fan or a newcomer to the genre -- everyone is welcome!

About the Instructor:
Emily Young is a writing tutor at St Petersburg College and a freelance food writer for the Tampa Bay Times. She graduated from Vermont College of Fine Arts with her MFA in 2016. Ask her about the time she almost got eaten by a badger.

Saturday, October 21 (1:00-3:00pm)
