Julia Lucille with Jake Klar
JULIA LUCILLE released her second album Chthonic on April 7 via Keeled Scales. Chthonic is a deeply-textured electric folk album, recorded in Dripping Springs, Texas at Moon Phase Ranch by Dan Duszynski and Emily Cross of Cross Record.

Chthonic (pronounced thonic) refers to the underworld, particularly the mythology surrounding Persephone and her journey toward darkness and ultimately rebirth. Femininity is something Julia strove to include in Chthonic, rejecting guitar parts and tones that sounded too aggressive or masculine in favor of balance and subtlety. Her music is often described as "dream-folk" and while aspects of it are hazy with reverb there is a strong melodic undercurrent to all of these songs.

Julia was raised in California and studied music at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She moved to Austin, Texas in 2012, but didnt immediately start playing shows.

I had really bad stage fright when I first moved here because I hadn't played for a year. I had to start with open mics because I couldn't get through even two songs in a row, I was so nervous. I started playing at a Thai restaurant to push myself, and played there twice a month just to get my sea legs.

In 2013 she self-released her first album Homing, which was picked up and re-released by Austin label Punctum Records.

Julia Lucille played 97 shows in the US in 2016, traveling in a Chevy Suburban with her dog Lila.

JAKE KLAR is an American Singer, Songwriter, Poet and Visual Artist who is a player in the bohemian renaissance grown on the flood plains and tobacco farms of Western Massachusetts. He is also a member of Sustain Music and Nature, a non-profit working to create partnerships between the music industry and environmental organizations.

Brawny lyricism, the vital romance of rock & roll, and a cinematic landscape swept through speakers - Until The Wild Fire Becomes Paradise is Jake Klars third release and first full length album, driven all-night into a psychedelic collage of modern America, it dances in a smokey basement noir with an array of characters whose hearts lay on the astral line.

Until The Wild Fire was written in the journals kept during a two year & two month expedition for images and stories of a modern American humanity. From the British Columbia coast down to Los Angeles on a greyhound, out to Austin, crosstown to Brooklyn and hazy in Buenos Aires.

Recorded by Andy Cass at Sleepercave studios in Easthampton, MA during January and February 2017. Produced by Karl Helander.  The band consists of Jake (guitar and vocals), Max Wareham (Bass), Joel Helander (keys), Karl Helander (drums),

Rotating between the DIY rock shows of the Pioneer Valley and the Texas tradition of desert songwriters. Klar has released two previous albums: 2013 Rocks & Gravel, and 2014 Crescent St. Blues. Forthcoming album Until The Wild Fire Becomes Paradise is to be released October 20th, 2017. In December 2016 he published an illustrated book of poems by the same name.
