Please join Ann Arbor Wordworks on January 24th at 7pm as they present Homegrown: Poems from the Ann Arbor Underground. Hosted at the Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre (911 N. University) the collegiate troupe Ann Arbor Wordworks is sure to astound with another night of poetry, songs, laughs, and tears. The 11-member troupe all hail from the great city of Ann Arbor and are representing their hometown and talents all over the state of Michigan and the country. For the last nine years, Wordworks has held their annual showcase 'Homegrown' in the first month of the year to reinvigorate and revive the city from the winter blues. Whether winning poetry slams, publishing their collections in professional journals and personal poetry collections, or supporting larger neighborly efforts, Wordworks is committed to using language to build community and we invite you to share in our year long journey and its culmination at Homegrown.

Featured in this year's performance will be Fiona Chamness, Ben Alfaro, Aimee Le, Gahl Liberzon, Mike Kulick, Carlina Duan, Haley Patail, Courtney Whittler, Brittany Floyd and Kerry Fingerle.

Gracing the stage along with Wordworks this year will be three immensely talented poets. Nate Marshall, current MFA student at the University of Michigan and respected poet from Chicago. Allison Kennedy, a Neutral Zone alumni and former Ann Arbor Youth Poetry Slam Team member and current Kalamazoo College student. Marshall Thomas, a recent Columbia University graduate, published poet, and current Lansing resident.

Tickets: Students $7 (Advance $5) / Adults $10 (Advance $7)
