The YaYas, Carolann Solebello and Karyn Oliver will be sharing this evening "in the round" for a great night of singer-songwriter contemporary Folk!

The YaYas:

Two-time Kerrville New Folk Finalists and 2012 Falcon Ridge Emerging Artists, The YaYas are an engaging and uplifting nationally touring trio hailing from New York's Hudson Valley region. Are they folk? Yes. Pop? Perhaps. But undeniably, they are personal. "They report on life observed, with great insight, not just centering on relationships but ranging widely  reminiscent of 'literary' songwriters like Richard Shindell, Dar Williams, Josh Ritter." Through subtle yet skillful arrangements, the powerful and expressive voice of Catherine Miles, Jay Mafale's percussive guitar, and Paul Silverman's melodic piano blend to create their distinctive sound.

Most familiar to folk audiences as a founding member of the female trio, Red Molly, CAROLANN SOLEBELLO returned to solo performance in August 2010 after six years with the band. She has three full-length Red Molly CDs to her credit, including James (2010), which peaked at #4 on the Americana chart, and Love and Other Tragedies (2008), which spent ten weeks in the Americana Top 15. Carolann's song "Summertime" was #1 on the Folk DJ chart in July 2008. Carolann also has three solo CDs to her credit, and is currently touring in support of her latest release, Threshold.

Why Karyn Oliver would want to leave a small town called Boring is subject to speculation, but Maryland's loss is the New York area folk scene's gain. Both a Kerrville New Folk Finalist and a Falcon Ridge Emerging Artist in 2011, as well as a 2010 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest winner, Karyn is part Joan Osborne, a touch of Janis Joplin and a bit of EmmyLou Harris -- effortlessly oscillating from bluesy to country and back. Her musical inspiration comes primarily from the eclectic mix of music to which she was exposed while growing up in the musically diverse culture of Washington, D.C. The power of her passionate and soulful voice comes through in her recent songs that display a personal narrative of love, marriage, disappointment and rediscovering life.
