One of a kind knock-out performer and a true American music treasure, Maria Muldaur is known worldwide for her Grammy-nominated '74 mega-hit "Midnight at the Oasis," Her hits are enshrined forever in the hearts of American music lovers. Songs like "I'm A Woman (W-O-M-A-N)" and "Don't You Touch my Leg" are still hits and audience favorites. But Maria is not a one hit phenomenon. Recent nominations for current recordings include Album of the Year, Blues Female Artist of the Year, and the Koko Taylor award. Upstage and Studio Bob in Port Angeles invite you to an unforgettable evening on Saturday September 16th, 8pm.
Maria consistently delivers great music and entertainment. Her career is prolific, filled with awards, journeying through American roots from blues/rock to jug band music and gospel, as well as cooperative projects with everyone from Bonny Raitt to Marcia Ball. Maria's longtime friendships with Bob Dylan, Taj Mahal, John Sebastian, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin and many of the greatest names in music and her dedication to American Roots music is renowned.
During the folk revival of the early '60s, she began exploring and singing early Blues, Bluegrass and Appalachian Old Timey Music, beginning her recording career in 1963 with the Even Dozen Jug Band. She then joined iconic Jim Kweskin Jug Band, touring and recording with them throughout the '60s.
In the 40 years since Midnight at the Oasis, Maria has toured extensively worldwide and has recorded 40 solo albums covering all kinds of American Roots Music, including Gospel, R&B, Jazz and Big Band. She's now settled comfortably into her favorite idiom, the Blues - but her performances can go any and everywhere based on her vast experience with rock, gospel, jug band and more.
Often joining forces with some of the top names in the music , Maria has recorded and produced on-average an album per year, several of which have been nominated for Grammies and countless other awards.
