Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis presents a rock/pop Mothership and a French masterpiece
The all volunteer orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis presents A DJs rock/pop Mothership and a French masterpiece as a choreographic symphony!

Our November Concert feels the season of change upon us.  As the cycles of Mother earth (at least here in Indiana) reveal ancient revelations of our existence, this concert embraces multiple perspectives.  Baroque composer Heinrich Biber's Battalia tells a story around an historic battle, with the armies celebrating their heritage, while later mourning the tragic struggle.  Whitacre's Lux Aurumque moves from the tragedy of the Battalia to a calm, cosmic place... While we are momentarily brought down to earth by DJ and symphonic music composer, Mason Bates' electronic beat, his music provides the possibility of some kind of alien forces at work, his musical sphere including some improvising musicians! The concert closes with French composer, Maurice Ravel's luminous Daphnis et Chloe ballet suite, signifying nature's vivid presence all around us, as spring and summer grow with intensity, and dreams for humankind find focus in youthful relationships.  As we began the program with the tragedy of battle, we end the concert with the fruitful hope of love.
