Andy T Band w/ Alabama Mike and Anson Funderburgh
Upstage presents The Andy T. Band with Alabama Mike and Anson Funderburgh on Thursday August 3rd at Studio Bob in Port Angeles. The six piece virtuoso all-star band is a tour de force musical event. Its touted as one the great collaborations in Blues history and one of the best touring bands on today's circuit. Andy Ts release, Numbers Man, was produced by Anson Funderburg. The album was nominated for a 2016 Blues Music Award as Best Traditional Blues Album and 2016 Band of the Year by the Blues Foundation.
The Andy T Band, fronted by guitarist Andy T, began in 2011 as the Andy T Nick Nixon Band. Upon Nicks retirement, Andy T enlisted Alabama Mike Benjamin as lead singer. Mike is a dynamic, energetic vocalist who strongly connects with his audience a true titan on the microphone with his first rate, church house tenor. In the past, Mike was nominated by the Blues Foundation as Traditional Male Blues Artist of the Year. (Charlie Musselwhite won that year!)
10X Blues Foundation award winner, Anson Funderburgh has over 30 Blues Award nominations and won too many awards to detail. Hes regarded as one of the greatest blues/rock guitarists of all time. After producing Andy Ts 2016 award winning latest album, he joined the band! Funderburgh led the renowned Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets since 1977. Anson himself has played with Delbert McClinton, Boz Scaggs, Snooks Eaglin, Grady Gaines, Earl King, Jimmy Buffett, and Little Charlie Baty.
This band is a force to be reckoned with and will not disappoint.
