Dinner With Friends
The Costa Mesa Playhouse presents Donald Margulies Dinner With Friends, winner of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, running July 21 through August 13, 2017.
This engrossing, satirical play about marriage, betrayal and food, which the author calls a rueful comedy, follows two inseparable couples at different ages and stages of their lives. They share vacations and countless dinners together, but when one marriage unexpectedly crumbles, their lives veer into opposite directions. Can these four friends move on to the next chapter without moving apart, or have they changed beyond recognition?
"Margulies writes about relationships with such intelligence and spiky humor that his comedy-dramabecomes something quite wonderful." Time Magazine. "A breezy comedy of modern manners that turns poignant and deeply affecting by its end. Margulies touches chords that resonate with a deep affecting humanity." San Francisco Examiner.
Dinner With Friends director Michael Serna has reunited the cast from his acclaimed 2014 production of God of Carnage, Angel Correa, Peter Hilton, Jordana Oberman and Michelle M. Pedersen. Correa and Hilton played the leads in last seasons Of Mice and Men, also directed by Serna. Pedersen was in last seasons Red Scare on Sunset.
The July 21st performance is a preview for which all seats are $18. July 22 is the opening night Gala, including a post-show reception. Gala tickets are $22 general and $20 for students and seniors. For all other performances, tickets are $20 general and $18 for students and seniors. Performances are Fridays & Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm.
