The Impresario & The Oval Portrait
Following the success of their 2016 production at The Totally Thames Festival, The Opera Box have teamed up with The Music Troupe to bring you The Oval Portrait, a new opera by Edward Lambert and a new English translation of Mozarts The Impresario by Mark Burns.
The Oval Portrait is a setting of Edgar Allen Poes short story and the action sees us taken us to a remote castle where a visitor arrives and is disturbed by the portrait of a young woman. As her husband painted her, the picture came alive - while she lived on only in his art...
Mozarts The Impresario is an hilarious, light-hearted take on the dilemma theatre companies face when dealing with divas. Set in the present day, Mark Burns new English translation shows us just how much things havent changed in the 230 years since this piece was first premiered.
Set in atmospheric surroundings of the Brunel Museum Sinking Shaft, this performance offers a unique opportunity to experience opera in one of Londons most enchanting venues.
