GYPSY
Hailed by critics as the great American musical-with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by Arthur Laurents--the show is based on the memoirs of legendary stripper Gypsy Rose Lee. The highly entertaining story focuses on the ultimate stage mom, Mama Rose, and her hopes and dreams for her daughters, June and Louise. As the lights of Vaudeville dim, Louise steps into the spotlight as Gypsy Rose Lee and rises to become one of the most famed burlesque performers of all time. Featuring such songs as, Let Me Entertain You, Everything's Coming Up Roses, and You Gotta Have a Gimmick, this musical offers song, dance, humor and the sheer force of the amazing Mama Rose.
The show has been postponed and will now be performed November 17th through December 3. Rated PG. Wine, beer, soft drinks, cheese, desserts and snacks are available to purchase and may be enjoyed during the performance. Doors open one hour prior to show time.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR DECEMBER 2ND ATTENDEES: Please be aware that December 2nd is also the night that Park Street is shut down and many of the neighboring streets, for the annual Christmas light parade. The announcer stand is at the corner of 12th and Park, so it's likely to be really crowded at our front door when you arrive. We suggest that you allow extra time for parking and making your way to the Ballroom that evening.
