A mash-up of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, various elements of the Book of Revelation, and Adam Guthman's childhood fixation with Batman, The First Disgrace recasts DC comic book villains Two Face, Joker, Riddler and Scarecrow as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse; Rosencrantz and Guildenstern as the two witnesses who appear during the Second woe; and Johnny Vigil -- Disgrace's author -- as John of Patmos, the man credited with writing Revelation while in exile nearly two millennia ago. The events depicted, however, take place on December 20, 2012, one day before the 5,125-year Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar reaches its conclusion i.e. the end of the world.
For the deepest possible enjoyment of The First Disgrace, it is best understood in its context as part of a continually evolving multimedia project, The 4th of July Wall. You should check it out.
(Note: The venue's location will not be disclosed until the morning of the show(!), when you will receive it in an e-mail. This is a one-time-only performance. As it stands, space is incredibly limited. Things may get loud. But, whatever happens next is through no fault of your own.)
