Emails, Medical Records, Bank Accounts and Social Media: Why it is important to Factor "Digital Assets" into your Estate Plan
South County Lifelong Learning July 19, 2017 from 10am-noon.
Like all other aspects of life, estate planning is not immune to the impact of the digital age. Today, most people have personal information online in the form of their bank, email, or social media accounts. While it is crucial for a person to plan for the passing of their estate upon death, it is just as crucial to plan for the management of their "digital life" upon incapacitation or death. While this might seem like common sense, the management of a person's "digital assets" can present unexpected issues and challenges. Del Foster will discuss these issues and challenges when it comes to incorporating your digital assets into your estate plan.
Presenter: Del Foster is a local attorney at the law firm of Rusconi, Foster & Thomas. As a California Bar Association recognized specialist in Estate Planning, Probate and Trusts, Mr. Foster has handled hundreds of estate plans, probates and trust administrations and issues surrounding incapacity and death. Through anecdotes accumulated over more than 20 years of practical experience, both professionally and personally, Mr. Foster will highlight the challenges and issues that come with the developing digital age. Mr. Foster will also provide you with approaches to managing your digital life.
