I Wonder if My Name is Alice
A WORLD PREMIERE & COLLABORATION AT ITS BEST
Join Artifact Dance Project as we take you "down the rabbit hole" for this Easter holiday weekend.

Artifact Dance Project (ADP) presents  "I Wonder if My Name is Alice;" a collaborative production featuring dance, music, film and visual art.  This world premiere is directed and choreographed by ADP Co-artistic director, Ashley Bowman.  The concert opens with a "dream sequence" of a young Alice (played by dance student, Sara Blanchard) reading her favorite book; "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland."  The storyline then centers around the adult Alice (played by ADP Co-artistic director Claire Hancock), who works in a restaurant surrounded by odd co-workers, a neurotic chef, an overbearing owner and high-maintenance customers. Her monotonous life unfolds on stage as she deals with these characters in a job that she is somewhat unhappy with.  A mysterious man and painter (played by Joe Pagac) changes her world suddenly by freezing time and painting a portal that will take Alice "down the rabbit hole" where she finds herself lost in scenes from her childhood stories (by author Lewis Carroll).   Her life and work turn into fantasy when co-workers and customers change into characters from the book.  ADP's cast of professional dancers will play multiple roles throughout the production. An integration of muralist and artist Joe Pagac, will paint sets in front of the audience.  New costumes by Charlene Hock will bring the eccentric characters to life. ADP Music director, Ben Nisbet gathers the Kingfisher String Quartet and pianist, Alexander Tenster, to play compositions by Ravel, Prokofiev, Liszt, Mozart, Bach, Shostakovich and Debussy.  Guest composer Robert McClure offers his work "The Gate" for string quartet and electronics; an amazingly new composition created specifically for ADP, that will open the second half of the concert.  Film projections will surround the walls of the theatre giving the audience a cinematic experience in addition to performance. Internationally-known Lighting Designer, Don Fox will create a whimsical atmosphere and offer innovative technical elements.

"I Wonder if My Name is Alice" will bring many artistic mediums (including literature) together for an extremely unique experience;  a signature approach of Artifact Dance Project.  The highest of quality artists from the Tucson Community and abroad will come together for this special weekend to showcase their talents and dedication to art, performance, innovation, childhood and adulthood.
