New Orleans Cat Art and Film Festival
Art for Cats' Sake and the LA SPCA are proud to present the 3rd annual New Orleans Cat Art and Film Festival, featuring all things cat!
Through the generosity of our sponsors, including our Platinum Sponsor Cat Hospital of Metairie and Louisiana Loom Works, we are excited to announce our Delgado Community Center City park Campus location indoors at the Student Life Center. Join us at Building 23 Saturday, May 20th from 10:00am to 4:00pm to celebrate our feline friends.
CATS RULE THE INTERNET! The only thing more fun than watching funny cat videos on the internet is watching funny cat videos with your closest cat-loving friends! A large screen will be showing the award winning Will Braden compilation of funny internet cat videos throughout the day.
SPECIAL GUESTS! Gatsby the Costuming Cat will be in attendance and available for photo ops.
ART! Multiple artists featuring various interpretations of the feline form will be selling everything from original artwork to prints, sculpture, jewelry and more! Get your art straight from the local artists! You may even find someone taking commissions to paint your own pet. Immortalize your kitty the way it deserves!
CHILDREN'S PLAY AREA - Face painting, various games and activities to entertain and amaze! Color your own original art, then take a picture with a larger than life seven foot tall feline! Try your luck at plucking a feline faced rubber ducky from our pond or play other games to win cool prizes and make your own cat masks.
Don't forget to visit our Art for Cats' Sake Booth where you will find unique jewely all feline themed including earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces, and pins.
Our photo contest ended on May 15th but.... No worries! Look for our Photo Caption Contest at the festival. Write the winning caption for the photo posted at the festival and win a beautiful cat platter!!
NOMS! It's not a New Orleans festival without FOOD.Burt's Catering will be offering some classic festival dishes and there will be plenty of indoor seating to enjoy your food.
RAFFLES! We will raffle off six different baskets full of goodies at the festival, valued at $50 to $250 plus a beautiful Thomas Mann pin and an amazing cat conservatory with miniature figures on silent auction. .
And don't forget to enter the 50/50 raffle at the door. Win some extra spending money to use at the festival (or for cat toys and treats)!
KITTY KNOWLEDGE! This year we have expanded our popular workshops and are bringing you information and insight on some of the most interesting and important cat topics.
Speakers will make a short presentation and then you can ask your burning questions! Come learn about Cat Scratching Behaviors and how to save your furniture, Cat CPR, Trap Neuter Return, and award winning author Dusty Rainbolt will be speaking on solving any Litter Box issues you may have and on Environmental Enrichment for your Indoor Cat---Catification at its Best!!! Marconi Drive or Navarre for lots of free parking. We are in the middle of the Delgado Campus at Building 23. Everything will be indoors but look for our giant cat figures to show you where to go!
Come as you are or wear your best cat costume, outfit or even ears. Don't have cat ears? No worries! Cat ear headbands will be available for purrchase at the festival so everyone can join in the fun.
A festival isn't complete without music! Our " Music by Request" DJ will be playing your favorite tunes and letting you know when the workshops are starting.
The Internet Cat Video compilation is exceedingly popular and wildly entertaining. With about 70 minutes of footage, the first screening will begin at 10:30 AM. Check out the www.la-spca.org/catfestival link if you need other than the 1:30PM showing sold here as you don't want to miss out!
