EXCHANGE provides a meeting point for professional dancers to showcase their choreographic work and engage in dialogue about process.
The Bell House's featured guest artist for 2017 is Bill Wade and Inlet Dance Theatre.
Bill Wade, recipient of the 2012 Cleveland Arts Prize and an award for Outstanding Contributions to the Advancement of the Dance Art Form from OhioDance in 2013, is the Founder and Executive/Artistic Director of Inlet Dance Theatre. Inlet is an outgrowth of Bills previous eleven years as an Artist in Residence at Cleveland School of the Arts, where he founded the YARD (Youth At Risk Dancing), a nationally recognized and awarded after school program. In 1998, he received the Coming Up Taller Award at the White House in Washington DC from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Presidents Committee on the Arts and Humanities.
15 works will perform on a proscenium stage distilled to space and simple lighting for a series of informal performances. Following the informal viewings, artists are invited to join a round table discussion about ideas and ways of working.
Presenting Artists will contest for a "Best of the Fest" honor and 3 awarded a second performance in the Saturday night Gala performance along with dance film shorts on the nature of making art in dance alongeside Curated Works and Featured Performer, Dominic Moore-Dunson's work, The Black Card Project.
