Yulia Kovaleva at the Parodos Festival
Born in Russia, Yulia Kovaleva is a classically-trained pianist who's been performing since the age of 6. Yulia gave multiple performances with the Far Eastern Symphony Orchestra and was a regular participant of the International Festival "New Names" of the Countries of the Pacific Rim in Russia between 1997 and 2007.
Winner of multiple international competitions, Yulia received first prize at the Third International Competition of Young Pianists in Vladivostok and two second prizes at the First International Competition of Young Music Performers in Saint Petersburg, performing as a pianist-soloist and a member of a piano ensemble. In 2006 the Academic Junior Music College in association with Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory awarded Yulia with a scholarship. In 2007, Yulia moved to London, Ontario, to pursue a career in Multimedia Technologies. While still in school, she performed Rachmaninoff's Concerto No. 1 with London Community Orchestra and continued performing in London and surrounding cities. In 2014 Yulia moved to Toronto to study performance production and is currently attending Ryerson School of Performance.
