JOE K WALSH & SWEET LOAM

Hailed by the CBC-Newfoundland as one of the best mandolinists of his generation, Portland, Maine-based Joe K. Walsh is known for his beautiful writing and his exceptional tone and taste. His collaborations with acoustic music luminaries including fiddler Darol Anger, flatpick guitar hero Scott Nygaard, folk star Jonathan Edwards, and pop/grass darlings Joy Kills Sorrow have taken him all over the global and musical map. Hes played with everyone from John Scofield to Bela Fleck to Emmylou Harris, and performed everywhere from festivals to laundromats to Nashvilles Ryman Auditorium.

After a number of award-winning years as mandolinist with bluegrass stars the Gibson Brothers, Joe currently splits his time between an inventive string band called Mr Sun, a duo with Grant Gordy, his own Joe K. Walsh Band, and now with Sweet Loam.   Sweet Loam features John Mailander (known for his work with Molly Tuttle and Tony Trischka) on fiddle and Avril Smith (formerly of Della Mae) on guitar.

If you can think of an incredible acoustic musician, Joe has likely played with them.

SASSAFRAS STOMP
...is the musical partnership of Johanna Davis & Adam Nordell.  Johanna grew up in a thriving community of dancers and contradance musicians in Maine, while Adam grew up in the hills south of Helena, Montana.  Johanna sings and plays fiddle and sometimes banjo.  Adam plays guitar, sings, stamps his feet in syncopated patterns and also sometimes plays the banjo.

In addition to, and inspiring their music,  Adam & Johnanna also operate Songbird Farm, a certified organic, mixed vegetable farm on the bank of the Sandy River in western-central Maine.  Along with a variety of other crops, they grow grains and an heirloom New England flint corn whose ancestry may just trace back to the Abenaki Indian farmers who historically cultivated the Sandy River bottom-land.

Doors at 7pm, Show at 8pm
