SOLO/DUO ACT JULIE AMICI & DEAN MUELLER www.julieamici.com A fresh take on a bygone era that is intimate, alluring, and hauntingly beautiful.
Julie and Dean are the 2017 winners of the Journey to Memphis for solo/duo category and will be representing the CBA in 2018 in Memphis. The pairing of a vocalist and upright acoustic bass is a magical combination that leaves nowhere to hide. It is a setting reserved for the most qualified artists, a mingling that Julie Yanko and Dean Mueller bring together with unexpected delight. Julies strong yet sweet voice is reminiscent of the 50s when female singers ruled the world of music, a time when jazz and blues co-mingled at the height of popular culture. Her repertoire combines the jazz of Billie Holiday with the soul of Nina Simone and the sophisticated country of Patsy Cline. Deans bass playing is rooted in the blues chops he earned playing with some of the finest blues legends in America and touring with the award winning international act, The Insomniacs.
Proceeds from the cruise will help lend financial support to the acts going to Memphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge.
