Community of the Spirit
An evening of music, poetry and reflections honoring community; A benefit Concert for the Village Charter School; Saturday, Dec. 8, doors @ 6:30pm, show @ 7:00pm; Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, East Auditorium (formerly the Merlot Theatre); featuring singer/songwriters Robert & Amy Ethington; musicians Benjie Kushins, Jimmy Donaghy & Zach Hammer; and a special performance by the VCS Children's Choir; tickets $20 single or $30 couple; includes light refreshments.
Robert Ethington is a singer/songwriter from Santa Rosa whose music has been praised for its clever honesty and spirited song-crafting. His first album, Growing & Dying, has been described as "real music for the populous that tickles the mind while calming the soul."
Originally from the Midwest, Robert was raised on the deep roots of gospel hymns and weekend revivals and now writes melodic stories of redemption, hope, self-discovery and the conflicted American dream.
Deemed a captivating combination of heartland patois, Kerouac-inspired angst, and ecological wistfulness, Robert's songwriting is imbued with the rust of the great cosmological conundrums. Sometimes, it's "Americana on adrenaline" says Robert, and other times, "it's strumming the sunset while sitting on the back porch."
