The OMHAS 2017 Early Childhood Mental Health Skills to Action Conference will showcase local and national speakers whose work support our youngest children in Ohio reflecting the ECMH focus of our increased capacity of Trainers and Consultants through the Whole Child Matters initiative.
The Key Note and Plenary speakers will highlight the salient issues impacting the Infant and Early Childhood landscape to include, Genetics, Environment and Protective Factors; the importance of wellness and how it affects the life trajectory; The Georgetown Models Technical Assistance for Children's Mental Health; Implicit/ Unconscious Bias; and The American Academy of Pediatrics policy statement on Media and Young Minds.
The myriad of skill building Workshops will embrace all that matters in Early Childhood-Infants & Babies, Assessment, ECMH-Consultation, Interventions, Family and Community Engagement, Research, Reflective Supervision and Mindfulness. We are looking forward to our Participants experiencing personal and clinical growth and skill enhancement that will continuously elevate the quality of services we deliver to young children and their families. During lunch, conference participants will have the opportunity to network with state agencies and other partners around the important early childhood services we support.
The 2017 Early Childhood Mental Health Skills to Action Conference will meet the following objectives:
1.Identify key protective and resiliency factors for infants, young children and their families that facilitate trauma informed and evidence-based strategies in prevention and implementation science that promote positive educational, social, emotional and physical outcomes in early childhood.
2.Provide training to ensure Cultural and Linguistic Competency and an understanding of the environmental and social determinants that impact family engagement to achieve more effective assessment analyses and best practice interventions that support a broad range of learning styles, abilities and developmental challenges in young children, their families and the communities in which they live.
3.Provide an understanding of Ethics in Supervision within a Reflective Supervisory Practice framework.
