2013 PowellsWood Storytelling Festival
July 26th & 27th 2013

PowellsWood: A Northwest Garden plays host to this annual 2-day festival of the art of storytelling.

The first day, internationally-renowned storytellers play host to registered guests with workshops designed to turn everyday people into tellers of their own stories. Full-pass participants even get a chance at "Tea With the Tellers" on PowellsWood's fabled Garden Room Terrace.

The second day, it's all telling, all the time, with special secret spots in the 3-acre garden set up with tents featuring storytelling tracks for adults, families, and children.

For complete schedule information, visit PowellsWoodFestival.com.

OUR TELLERS

JEEVA RAGHUNATH. Jeeva Raghunath comes to us from Chennai, India where she tells in both Tamil and English. Her hyperkinetic tales have excited audiences at storytelling festivals around the world. Young listeners will love her rhythmic Tamil childrens' tales, and adults will delight in her folktales of clever Tamil wives. Jeeva is also an author and translator of books for children in India.

DONALD DAVIS. Donald returns to PowellsWood with more heartwarming stories of growing up in North Carolina, along with tales from his many travels. You can see Donald at work on our website.

SYD LIEBERMAN. Syd will delight us with stories from his Jewish tradition, with tales garnered from his own family life, and with tales shaped from history.

HEATHER FOREST. A gardener herself, Heather entrances both young and old with her musical stories and her tales of wisdom. She will share singing tales, wise fables and other stories.

MARGARET READ MACDONALD & RICHARD SCHOLTZ. Margaret Read MacDonald and Richard Scholtz share lively world folktales. MacDonald's excitable telling style is complemented by Scholtz's soothing autoharp. Lots of audience participation in this story trip around the world.
