Carl Grubbs & Lafayette Gilchrist - A Tribute to Thelonius Monk and John Coltrane- with saxophonist Carl Grubbs, who, early in his musical career, received extensive training from one of the greatest legends in jazz, John Coltrane. He teams with Lafayette Gilchrist, pianist for David Murray and composer and leader of his own group, the Volcano's". Gilchrist is often tagged "The New Monk" with his fiercely innovative style, constantly reinventing melodies by pushing and pulling them in new direction. With Eric Kennedy on drums, Herman Burney on bass and Fred Moss on guitar.
