Dr. Sketchy presents Lula Houp-Garou
Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art school is the world's premier alt.drawing movement. Artists draw glamorous underground performers in an atmosphere of saucy conviviality.
On Oct. 7th we are proud to present Lula Houp-Garou of Chicago.
Lula Houp-Garou stumbled onto the stage of a Chicago dive bar in 2008, encased in DIY foam Iron Man costume held together with hot glue and determination. Despite her initial aversion to glitter, she found her niche in neo-vaudeville & burlesque. Specializing in hula hooping-based burlesque acts, she quickly became a staple of the Chicago burlesque community and one of the Midwest's most noteworthy variety performers. She is internationally recognized not only for her talents with a hula hoop, but also for her whimsical act concepts, theatrical pageantry, opulent costumes and innovative props. Fusing the elements of striptease with circus skills, showgirl spectacle and vaudeville ingenuity, she has developed a unique signature style of variety burlesque. Performance highlights include The Burlesque Hall of Fame: Movers, Shakers & Innovators Showcase and Cirque Du Soleil's Zarkana Premiere Party.
