Wideman Competition Medalist Xi Xi Zhou to perform Benefit Concert for The Mississippi Chorus
Xixi Zhou, 2012 Wideman International Piano Competition finalist, will perform a concert benefiting The Mississippi Chorus Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the St. Andrew's Episcopal School Center For Performing Arts on the school's North Campus at 370 Old Agency Road, Ridgeland.
Student tickets may be purchased at the door for $5 with an I.D.
Zhou won over the Jackson audience when he performed Beethoven's Mass in C with The Mississippi Chorus at the Chorus' spring concert in May 2012. He was awarded the silver medal in the 61st Wideman International Piano Competition, performing Prokofievs Piano Concerto No. 2. As a versatile pianist, he possesses power, intensity and infection, as well as the ability to resonate with his audience. Zhou currently studies at the New England Conservatory of Music. Zhou began playing the piano at age 6, demonstrating his talents when he was very young. At age 11, he ranked first in the piano contest of his home province in China. Xixi also studied at Shanghai Conservatory Of Music.
