The Portland Roadhouse
2017 will be the 8th year for the Portland Roadhouse event - a 10-hour contra dance with different bands and callers playing eight 65-minute slots. The calling and music is all volunteer (unpaid) except for travel expenses for those coming from out of town. The Portland Roadhouse is a showcase for contra dance music and calling from along the I-5 corridor and a delightful presentation of our Pacific Northwest talent.
The organizing committee members range from Roseburg, Ore. to Anacortes, Wash. The Portland Roadhouse event is a benefit for Northwest Folklife. It is part of the larger Cascade Promenade week end, a series of back-to-back dance events beginning with the Newburg dance on Wednesday, the Seattle Contra Marathon and dances in Portland and Corvallis on Thursday, many dance events on Friday ranging from Seattle to Eugene, an afternoon dance in Olympia on Saturday, the Portland Megaband Saturday night, and finally the Portland Roadhouse on Sunday.
The Portland Roadhouse Dance will be held at the Milwaukie Community Club Center, 10666 SE 42nd, Milwaukie, OR 97222
