The Apalachin Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated presents a DELTA RED CARPET EVENT, the screening the movie HIDDEN COLORS.
DELTA RED CARPET EVENTS are one of the initiatives of the National Arts and Letters Commission. While events are entertaining for our audience, one of the goals of the commission is to promote positive images of African Americans and other minorities and to provide a historical perspective that should be told and retold in our communities across the globe.
HIDDEN FIGURES does just that. HIDDEN FIGURES is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle MonĂ¡e)brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nations confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.
We hope you think this is a worthwhile story and will join us on January 14, 2017 on the DELTA RED CARPET!
