Friday Night Concert - Yachats Celtic Music Festival 2012
Join in the celebration of 11 years of music and magic at the Yachats Celtic Music Festival. Friday Night Concert features Jamie Laval & Zac Léger, Colleen Raney Band, and Aoife Clancy
************************************************
Jamie and Zac will present a program of traditional music from around the Celtic diaspora, including Scotland, Ireland, Bretagne, Quebec, and Appalachia, along with observations on the cultural significance of Celtic music and amusing stories of life as a touring artist. Their unique approach to traditional Celtic music blends the simplicity of an ancient art form with stunning virtuosity and contemporary flair that resonates with families, youth, seniors, and devotees of ethnic, jazz, and classical music.

Musicians don't come with much more history in the craft than Irish singer Colleen Raney. She's been singing for more than two decades, and has been immersed in America's Celtic music and dance scene for three. Raised in Seattle, previously based in New York and now calling Portland, Oregon home, Colleen has studied and performed Irish and Scottish music in more places and for longer than most musicians do in the span of their entire careers.

Aoife Clancy (pronounced "Eefa") brings a refreshing new voice to folk music, one that ranges from traditional Irish songs to ballads and contemporary folk. Aoife comes from the small town of Carrick-on-Suir, in Co Tipperary, Ireland, where her musical career began an early age. Now with seven recordings under her belt in the last decade, Aoife has clearly established herself as one of the Divas of Irish and contemporary Folk Music. As one reviewer remarked, "she has a breadth of styles that make her concerts fascinating. Her singing would melt packed ice with it's warmth and richness" --Mike Jackson, Canberra Times.
