Almost, Maine is appropriately named "Almost" because it is so far north in Maine, it's almost in Canada. The town is not only remote, but delightfully quirky and mythical. The play takes place on an enchanted Friday night in deepest winter. The audience will watch as some of its offbeat resident citizens fall in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. As the northern lights hover magically overhead, knees are getting bruised, and hearts are getting broken. But the bruises heal and hearts mend almost in this charming, romantic comedy of 9 vignettes. Each scene features a different couple seeking a sense of meaning in the chilly, uncharted wilderness of love. Their brief stories are laced with magic realism, uncanny coincidences, and metaphors taken literally, like a shoe dropping from the sky.
The fabulous eclectic sets are enhanced with specialized lighting and music as each scene flows to the next.
About The Company: The Company is a theatrical troupe comprised of students in the Del Oro High School Theatre Arts program and includes parents, faculty and theatre professionals. Its members are devoted to producing high quality theatre and bringing real life experience to high school students. The Company has taken on several challenging productions including its critically acclaimed 2014 production of Les Miserables, 2015 production of West Side Story, 2016 production of Wizard of Oz, and many others.
