Dancing in the Dark: Nurturing Healing and Resilience
To live in a broken world is to witness and experience various degrees of pain and trauma within the body and spirit. Please join with the Presbytery of Chicago (POC) and members of the Chicago community for a special seminar, Dancing in the Dark. During the day we will explore the broad categories of emotional trauma that we experience as humans. In addition, we will journey together through an introduction of nine stages of healing, which go beyond the superficial dysfunctional behaviors that we often participate in as a result of our emotional wounds. The seminar is designed to make the community aware of methodologies used in experiential healing prayer and to be an invitation for attendees to seek further personal and community healing and, if desired, further training.

Our seminar will be led by Matt Skolnik, a pastor serving in Coshocton County, Ohio. One of Matts favorite applications of Formational Prayer is in Detroit, where an Iraqi man tends to the wounds of those who have experienced the traumas of living in a war-torn region. This model has been used with individuals, teams, congregations and communities.

Preaching will be Victoria Curtiss, Associate Pastor for Mission, Fourth Presbyterian Church.

The gift of music will be provided by The Lucy Smith Quartet (http://www.lucysmithjazz.com).

Continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided.
Questions? Please contact the POC Office at 312-488-3000.
Registration ends on Thursday, December 1 at 11:50 pm.

Please share with pastors, chaplains, community workers, Stephen ministersanyone who works with individuals suffering from pain and trauma of body, mind, or spirit.

Sponsored by the Presbytery of Chicago and community partners with funding support from the Synod of Lincoln Trails.
