THE CELEBRATION
For months now, behind closed doors Alacartoona has been cavorting with her new partner, the ruggedly handsome Money Wolf Music. So strong, so sublime is their connection that a physical manifestation, a product of this magnificent union, was inevitable. It is an eight song album, named Fantoche, and the time of its arrival has been predetermined by the stars themselves. At 8pm, on the 14th of September, at Nica's 320, we will gather to welcome Fantoche, and the joyous festivities will begin! Alacartoona will play at 9pm, and following her return to the stage, a selection of songs (curated by the illustrious Mr. Freling of Victor & Penny and the dashing Mr. Nemeth of The Late Night Callers) will ring forth, as we all reacquaint ourselves and toast the new arrival. The intimacy provided by Nica's guarantees maximum pleasure for all, so to be one of the fortunate souls in attendance, purchase your ticket now and ensure your fate!
FANTOCHE - THE ALBUM
What is "Fantoche?" Roughly translateda puppet. When the French use the word, they are speaking of governments. The same word in Spanish refers to a person controlled by others. While no strangers to the underbelly of life, on this release (their first on the Money Wolf label) Alacartoona has turned down a darker path. The songs on this recording explore the narrow, poorly lit byways of the human experience, featuring characters that are the unwitting puppets of forces beyond their recognition sex and desire, addiction and bad choices, fear, loneliness, the need for love, and the failure of love. And yet, somehow, Alacartoona lifts the songs above the clouds of despair to find those rare patches of sunlit hope and joy.
