Choral Arts Turns 30!
"Music is an agreeable harmony for the honor of God and the permissible delight of the soul." - J. S. Bach The official celebration of Choral Arts Philadelphia's 30th Anniversary takes place at First Baptist Church, the site of the very first concert back in 1982. The festive program features Bach's MAGNIFICAT BWV 243 (with its Christmas interpolations) and Vivaldi's GLORIA RV 589 -- two works that have formed a regular part of Choral Arts' repertoire. The chorus will be joined by the Philadelphia Bach Collegium performing in authentic early music style on period instruments, and the soloists will be drawn from the gifted professional core singers of Choral Arts itself. The festivities will buld to a climax with an audience sing-along of John Rutter's Handelian setting of "Joy to the World," Handel's Coronation Anthem "Zadok the Priest" and the beautiful "Ave verum corpus" of Mozart. Start warming up now and join us in celebrating 30 years of the joy of singing.
