MOZARTIANA
SALIERI Sinfonia, Veneziana TCHAIKOVSKY Suite No. 4, Mozartiana IBERT Hommage à Mozart MOZART Symphony No. 41, Jupiter
No composer in history has excelled to such an astonishing level in all forms of music as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is no wonder that this greatest of musical geniuses inspired nearly every composer in his wake even centuries after his premature death. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who worshiped Mozart, composed an orchestral suite inspired by many of Mozart 's finest melodies, and French composer Jacques Ibert expressed his admiration with his reverential Hommage à Mozart.
Contrary to legend, Antonio Salieri did not complete Mozarts Requiem, nor did he plot to have his greatest rival eliminated. In fact, Mozart and Salieri had a congenial professional rapport and supported each others work (although Salieri ended-up with the top music positions in Vienna).
Mozart is known for the miraculous speed in which he was able to produce perfect works without sketches. In 1788, he outdid himself by composing three symphonies in two months, conceived as a triple opus with No. 41 in C as his grand finale. Mozart distilled all his knowledge and incomparable craft in this sublime work which will conclude this tribute.
