Nick Cedergren (Laugh Factory) ---- What the ish is this? Stand-Up on the Spot is a blend of improv and stand-up comedy. Comics with no set list take the stage and create comedy gold out of suggestions provided by YOU, the audience. Buzzwords: raw, edgy, uncensored.
What do you mean, raw, edgy, uncensored? What I mean is...the comics are creating material on-the-fly, and the chances of them saying something that you find offensive is very high. We book comics with many diverse styles and viewpoints, and in order to create a safe environment for them, we are enforcing a strict NO RECORDING policy. We're not gonna take your iPhones away from you or anything, but you shouldn't be messing around with them at a show anyway. You can talk about it, you can tweet about it, but you can't put it on YouTube.
Is this ish funny for-real? Yes, this ish is funny for-real. We book comics who are far too good to be in our tiny theater in a kinda grimy part of Hollywood. We have headliners, touring comics, regulars from the LA clubs, people with late-night credits and TV specials. We will post updates on the line-up often so you can Google them or whatever you gotta do.
If they're so good, why are they slumming it in this show? Because it helps them create new material...and it's really ballsy.
How much is this ish gonna cost me? $5. That's right. Five measly dollars, and that INCLUDES FREE BEER. The deal is though, you have to buy your tickets ahead of time. It's $10 at the door.
What kind of beer? PBR until some other cheap, hipster beer comes along. There's a liquor store next door if you want to bring something else in. Just don't be a jerk about it.
What's the catch? None. All that comedy ish plus free beer for $5.
