Jennifer Keishin Armstrong at The Darress Theatre for "Seinfeldia", Wednesday, October 5th, 7:00pm
We will be showing Ms. Armstrong's favorites clips from the show itself and provide a question and answer session with the audience from the stage of the historic Darress Theatre.
The book is a hilarious behind-the-scenes story of two guys who went out for coffee and dreamed up Seinfeldthe cultural sensation that changed television and bled into the real world, altering the lives of everyone it touched.
The New York Times - Dwight Garner "[;Armstrong]; delivers a solid history of the seriesHer book, as if she were a marine biologist, is a deep dive. She has interviewed the show's writers; its directors; its bit players; even the creator of its theme musicThe reasons to come to Seinfeldia are its carefully marshaled history lesson, and Ms. Armstrong's way of laying out her produce as if she were operating a particularly good stall at a farmer's marketI haven't watched Seinfeld reruns for a while. I overdosed years ago and went cold turkey. Perhaps the highest praise I can give Seinfeldia is that it made me want to buy a loaf of marbled rye and start watching again, from the beginning."
Armstrong's previous book is "Mary and Lou and Rhoda and Ted," a cultural history of the Mary Tyler Moore show. She writes about pop culture for several publications, including The New York Times Book Review, Fast Company, New Yorks Vulture, BBC Culture, Entertainment Weekly, and others. She grew up in Homer Glen, Illinois, and now lives in New York City.
