2012 - BOUT - 08/11 - Double Header in Coney Island
Coney Island // Sat Aug 11
Abe Stark Arena 5:00pm
Coney Island's Abe Stark Arena -- ordinarily a civic ice hockey venue -- will be transformed into a Boardwalk roller derby palace!
5pm - New York Shock Exchange vs. St. Louis Gatekeepers (men's)
7pm - Brooklyn Bombshells vs. Bronx Gridlock (women's league semi-finals!) - the winner of this will move onto the Championships!
Doors open at 4pm, with bouting action beginning at 5pm. Bouting should be complete before 9pm. Each double-header ticket gives you admission to both bouts for the price of one!
The venue (pictured here at http://www.nycgo.com/venues/abe-stark-rink) will allow both trackside seating and seating in the stands. Tickets are general admission only.
Alcohol will be served at the bout - a rarity for New York derby! Come on out for a day at Coney Island and an early evening of Gotham Girls Roller Derby.
Note that this bout is NOT slated for live internet broadcast due to lack of bandwidth available at the venue. To see it, you've gotta be there!
After-party plans TBA.
Abe Stark Arena is convenient to the Stillwell Avenue stop, at the end of the D, F, N, and Q trains. It's situated in the parking lot of MCU Park, just west of the subway stop.
Due to the layout of the venue, there will be no VIP seating for this event. All tickets are General Admission. If you plan to sit trackside, you should bring your own folding chair.
Children under the age of 18 will not be allowed to sit trackside. Children 5 and under are admitted free.
Gotham Girls Roller Derby are committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all fans, both in the venue and in the parking lot.
