Dionysiaca!
Having travelled as far as India to establish his rites, Dionysus feels the pull towards his homeland, where his destiny awaits. But before he leaves, he offers a commemorative ritual to the intoxicating land that seduced him...something special...something bubbly...
Dave Stringer is one of the foremost practitioners of Kirtan - one of the oldest forms of consciousness-altering music. Exuberant, poignant and transcendent, Kirtan marries the mysticism of traditional Indian instruments with the devotional intensity of gospel and the potent energy of a rock band. Sung in call and response form, with the entire audience participating, ecstasy is both the process and the product.
We will enjoy a vegetarian, sustainably produced dinner specially crafted by Gather Restaurant of Berkeley while enjoying an organically-produced sparkling wine as we re-create that mythic day when Dionysus decides to leave the rich land of India to return to his homeland and begin the chapter known as Euripides Bacchae.
Dave will create a wall of sound that promises to transport us on a journey through time along Himalayan passes - good thing we'll have food and drink waiting for us at the end!
Toast the Universe - The Sun and Moon and Earth Danced together To bring you this delight. Close your eyes, Raise your glass, Receive the nectar on your tongue As a kiss of the divne."
