The Three Gypsies
Join New Jersey's premier Spanish Dance & Flamenco dance company, the critically acclaimed Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre, on Saturday, June 15, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. for "The Three Gypsies" at Crossroads Theatre located on 7 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick, NJ. Embracing the Gypsy spirit through the music of Manuel de Falla's El Amor Brujo, Bizet's Carmen and traditional flamenco, Alborada will transport the audience to a smuggler's cave where the dialogue between the intimate classical and flamenco music ensembles weaves the tapestry of our GitanerĂa (Gypsy Piece). For more information on the performance, including ticket prices and orders, please call (848) 203-3420 or visit www.alboradadance.org.
From De Falla's possessed Candelas to Bizet's seductress, Carmen, to the passion of the smugglers fighting over their temptress, Lola, these shared Gypsy themes explode from the fires of witchcraft, the smoldering embers of passion, seduction and betrayal, bursting with their dramatic themes, to finally end in the joyous light of a Gypsy flamenco celebration. Alborada's critically acclaimed dancers and musicians will be joined by the Rudin Ensemble. Experience the passion of Spanish Dance Theatre!
This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment of the Arts, through a grant provided by the Middlesex County Cultural & Heritage Commission/Board of Chosen Freeholders. Funded also in part by the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and the New Music USA Live Music for Dance Program. Crossroads Theater is made available through the generosity of Johnson & Johnson, Inc., Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission/Board of Chosen Freeholders and the New Brunswick Cultural Center.
