Burlesque Like A Man
The burlesque stage creates a wide array of opportunities to exercise our creativity and explore gender fluidity.  Although a largely female-dominated art form, there is a place in the burlesque world for those who identify as men, and the rich tradition of techniques used by male performers can provide a treasure trove of inspiration for performers of any gender.

12pm - 1pm: Delsarte Essentials Delsartean teachings enable performers to better connect their movements with their intentions and thereby communicate with an audience so much more effectively.  This workshop gives a grounding in the core elements of Delsarte and is the perfect introduction to those unfamiliar with it  or a great refresher for those familiar with these techniques! This workshop is intended for all performers Registration:$25.00

About the Instructors

Joe Paul Williams/Willy Barrett The worlds foremost teacher of, and pioneer in, reconstructing the Delsarte System of Expression, used by the early theater choreographers to create the Broadway styles (including the Ziegfeld Follies). Joe's teaching has taken him around the world and he is proud to have taught Delsarte at the National Centre of Dance in Paris, at the Juilliard School, and also at numerous Middle Eastern dance festivals across the US. A great lover of burlesque for many years, he created and regularly performed a stripping gorilla burlesque for several years in Ohio in the late 1980's. Now he looks forward to teaching at the Great Burlesque Expo every year that he can and lends his support to the revival of this beloved, charming art.

Scratch A trained actor, physical comedian, and stage combatant, Scratch brings a wealth of experience in the "manly arts" to the world of burlesque.
