Buglisi Dance Theatre NYC Spring Season at The Ailey Citigroup Theater
Buglisi Dance Theatre presents its 23rd anniversary NYC season with three performances at The Ailey Citigroup Theater on June 7-9, 2016.  The Opening Night Gala honors Associate Founder/Principal Dancer Terese Capucilli with a performance of Martha Graham's Deep Song by Guest Artist Blakeley White-McGuire. All evenings feature a World premiere and BDT favorites by Artistic Director Jacqulyn Buglisi including her masterwork Requiem to Fauré's soaring mass; Sand, set to Philip Glass' brilliant string quartet; and Suite: Solos & Duets with the rapturous Sospiri. Special performance by Christine Dakin with pianist Brian Zeger.

For Opening Night Benefit Tickets contact Buglisi Dance Theatre directly at buglisi@buglisidance.org or call 212-719-3301.

"Buglisi works in images that seduce the eye as much as the imagination, with shapes, luminous textures, and stilled moments in time that offer an adventure in perception. Buglisi is a rarity in today's world, a woman who delights in the many splendid forms of female being. Probably no woman, other than Graham, has plumbed such emotional depths choreographically." - Dance Magazine

The award-winning Buglisi Dance Theatre is acclaimed for its magnificent dancers, sublime theatricality and cutting-edge collaborations. Using literature, poetry, and heroic archetypes, Artistic Director Jacqulyn Buglisi crafts dances on the human condition that promote social justice and awareness of global issues. Founded in 1993, BDT performs worldwide including, in NYC at The Joyce Theater, New York Live Arts, the River to River Festival, and the Battery Dance Festival; on tour at the Kennedy Center, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Vail International Dance Festival, Kaatsbaan International Dance Center, and abroad to festivals in Australia, the Czech Republic, France, Israel, and Italy.  BDT's repertoire of over 100 works is archived in the Jerome Robbins Dance Division of the New York Public Library, and is seen on the companies of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, The Richmond Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Ice Theatre of New York, among others. BDT inspires students through its programs in the NYC public schools, Steps on Broadway, and university residencies and performances.  Committed to empowering community through art, BDT embraces 150 + dancers in The 9/11 Table of Silence Project, a free, performance ritual for peace on the Josie Robertson Plaza, Lincoln Center and seen via livestream across all fifty states and 102 countries.  www.buglisidance.org
