PTSD One Day Red Deer Learning Intensive with Theo Fleury and Kim Barthel
This One Day Learning Intensive is designed to reach those suffering with PTSD (such as first responders, police officers, military, childhood and multiple trauma sufferers) and the people who love and support them: caregivers, professionals, therapists, family members, partners and community members.
Theo Fleury and Kim Barthel teamed together to write the best seller Conversations with a Rattlesnake and have since supported victims and victors of trauma, addictions and abuse all across Canada. They also are dedicating to supporting our service personal and people struggling to manage PTSD. (We will provide a certificate of completion when required for those who wish to use this learning event toward annual learning hours.)
THIS event is focused on HONEST SHARING, PERSONAL STORIES and REAL STRATEGIES.

10:10 am - Commentary on current stats surrounding PTSD in Canada
10:30 - 11:45am - TOPIC ONE: PTSD Symptoms - How they manifest and how they affect the sufferer, how PTSD affects the families and connections of sufferers.
11:45 am - 1:15 pm - LUNCH
1:15 pm - Gather, Re-Group, Brief Reflection on Morning
1:30 - 2:30 - TOPIC TWO: On Vulnerability - Personal Sharing, Stories and Holding Space

Theo Fleury: Theos mission statement is to help as many people get to where they want to go has taken shape in many forms. He is committed to daily transformation through personal growth through self-reflection, mindfulness and new action.
Theo has been awarded the Canadian Humanitarian Award, The Queens Jubilee Medallion, he is an Honorary Chief and recipient of the Aboriginal Indspire Award. In 2014, Theo was awarded with an honorary doctorate in Science from University of Guelph-Humber for outstanding contributions to the Mental Health of Canadians. Most recently Theo was bestowed with a second honorary doctorate in Laws from Brandon University in recognition for his contributions combating child sexual abuse and for his outstanding efforts to promote healing and recovery. Theo pursues excellence in all areas of his life.
Kim Barthel: Kim integrates the science of occupational therapy and neurobiology with cutting edge practice to support the conscious evolution of the human spirit. With 30 years of experience in the field of occupational therapy, Kims approach to serving clients is visionary and eclectic yet grounded and easy to integrate into your daily life.
Sheis a world-renowned teacher and therapist, most active in the fields of relational trauma and sensory processing. Her revolutionary process reinforces the importance of relationship in therapy; blending the art of intuitive inquiry with cutting edge developments in neuroscience.Kim collaborates consistenly with Theo Fleury, since co-authoring Conversations with a Rattlesnake in 2014.
