Japanese Summer Picnic on Whidbey Island
Please join us for our next cooking class on the magic isle, when we'll take the cooking outdoors and prepare some fantastic vegan, gluten-free dishes al fresco on the farm! We'll be using the delicious food of Japan as our inspiration as we explore the beauty and simplicity of classics made with a modern twist. We'll share our technique for making perfect miso soup at home, how to make crispy vegetable tempura, hand rolled sushi, and flavorful teriyaki, all vegan, and naturally gluten and soy free.  As with all of our creations, these meals are easy to prepare and will use simple plant based ingredients which are beneficial to our health and make tasty additions to our everyday meals. Get all your cooking questions answered, learn how to maximize the nutrition in your food, and take home beautifully crafted recipe cards to add to your cooking collection. Join us for our third annual Fire and Earth Kitchen OUTDOOR cooking class, graciously hosted by our good friends at Someday Farm Vegan Bed and Breakfast in Freeland! We make healthy cooking simple, fun, and delicious. Join us!

On the menu:

* Perfect Chickpea Miso Soup with Homemade Dashi
* Vegetable Tempura Sushi with Rainbow Veggies, Purple Rice and Ginger Dipping Sauce
* Mushroom and Cauliflower Terikayi Bowl with Summer Vegetables and Toasted Sesame

Note: Everything we teach and prepare is always 100% vegan, and naturally gluten and soy free. If you have any other food allergies that may prevent you from enjoying the recipes or the samples we provide, please inquire about the ingredients to be used in a particular class. We use a wide variety of organic fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, beans, legumes, grains, and spices. We do use some oil and occasional sweeteners as well.  If we can accommodate and provide an allergen free sample we are happy to do so. If not, we will try to offer suggestions for alternative preparations which you can try at home. Our private cooking classes are always an option as well, and can usually accomodate any and all food preferences, allergies, and sensitivities.
