As firms consider going global, they must devise strategies to reconcile the challenges and opportunities inherent to emerging markets. Over the last five years, General Mills' Latin American operations have achieved growth, both organically as well as with strategic acquisitions.

Sean N. Walker has served as President for Latin America at General Mills for the last 8 years. Drawing from his experience leading the firm's endeavors in Mexico, Central America, and South America, Mr. Walker will share his tips for achieving growth in emerging markets.

About the speaker:
Sean N. Walker is Senior Vice President at General Mills and President of their Latin American operations. He has led the region since 2007. He has responsibility for the profitable growth of the General Mills business and brands in all markets in South America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Mexico. Under Sean's leadership, General Mills successfully acquired and integrated a large food company in Brazil. The business achieved record levels of revenue and profit.

Sean joined General Mills Canada in 1989. He has served in roles of increasing responsibility across multiple divisions and functions. His assignments included vice president of Finance for General Mills Canada, director of Financial Operations for the Betty Crocker division and vice president of Financial Operations for the Meals division. In 2003, after the General Mills acquisition of The Pillsbury Company, he moved to the role of vice president of Marketing responsible for the US Green Giant business.

Sean recently returned to Minneapolis, after spending the last 8 years living in Miami and São Paulo.
