Evolution
Jo-Mé Dance celebrates their 5th year of dance to the Boston community. May-Lisa Chandler and Joe Gonzalez founded Jo-Mé Dance in February 2011, where the organization grew into many devision to give young to professional artist an opportunity to share their artistry. On April 30th 2016 they will celebrate this year by bring back audiences favorites from high energy to emotional dance works. These chosen pieces from the past were some of the few most recognized and loved pieces in Jo-Mé Dance's Repertory. Piece such as No Greater Love, The Build, Surreptitious, Vessel, Home On The Other Side, and 2 new exciting works by Joe Gonzalez and Diaman wood. This Boston performance is a one night show before the company takes off to perform in other cities, so Make your way down and enjoy music, dance, and joy by Jo-Mé Dance Theatre . .
No greater Love; choreographed to the dynamic song of "Jesus Is Loved". A gospel piece that celebrates movement and praise. (Premiered North Carolina 2012)
The Build is a trio choreographed on a wall where the dancers jump to the other side to build a heaven with only the memories of their love. This piece is in memory of Anthony Chandler.
Home on the Other Side was the first piece ever choreographed on Jo-Mé Dance. Kicks, jumps, and turns to the the Negro spiritual song of "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot". (Premiered June 2011, Strand Theater)
Surreptitious to the underline of media. This high energy piece moves with newspapers as props, expressing chaos, misleading, and the outcome of effective information to the human race. (Premiered Boston 2013)
Vessel was first performed at Boston Dance Alliance (BDA) Gala of 2012. Starting with a single breath, an entire vessel is evolved but decrescendos back to a final breath. Much like our bodies entering and exiting the world as we know called life. This performance is happening for one night only, you do not want to miss this!
