"Wickedly dark hilarious, quirky and heartfelt... the laughs come fast and furious." - Variety

Canadian stage veterans Anna Hagan and Allen Zinyk star in this delightfully dark comedy about death, Vigil. When an egotistical and embittered bachelor descends upon the deathbed of his old aunty to hasten her demise, he is appalled to find her health improving against all odds  and against all his hopes. Be prepared for a story of surprising turns; Vigil is deliciously absurd, incredibly funny and poignantly tender, with a twist that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

"Deliciously mischievous" - Time Out New York

Playwright Morris Panych's wickedly acerbic wit is in absolute top form in this, his most widely produced play. To date Vigil has been translated into 19 languages, and has had acclaimed productions in London's West End at Wyndham's Theatre, in Paris at Théâtre La Bruyère and most recently at American Conservatory Theatre in SanFrancisco. In a program note for the Wyndham production, Panych dedicates the play "to all who have died and all who've not yet got around to it."

"Acerbically funny and sneakily affecting, Vigil is a jagged jewel of a play." - BackStage.com

Director Kim Selody has worked as a playwright, director and actor in Canadian theatre for over 30 years and has directed over 100 professional theatre productions worldwide.  He has received several awards for his work including two Dora Awards and three Jessie Richardson Awards.

The creative team for Vigil includes Glenn MacDonald (Set Design) and Kevin McHurdy (Sound) with stage management by Chris Allen. Produced by David Petersen.
