Kick Off Chamber Music Concert - The Lee Trio in partnership with BRAVO Youth Orchestras
Come join us Sunday, February 7th @ 2pm Main Sanctuary Village Baptist Church 330 SW Murray Blvd Beaverton OR 97005
Kick Off Concert with The Lee Trio Lisa Lee, Violin Angela Lee, Cello Melinda Lee Masur, Piano
It is not just their rich palette of tone colours that marks them out, but also the delicious sense of collusion that animates their ensemble playing. From the outset the players gripped the attention with the immediacy and freshness of their expression, and their sensitive balance between sumptuous Romanticism and introspection." ~ T h e S T R A D
"The Lee sisters used their suave sense of rubato to maximum effect.... Their polish and expressive capacity, in performing the works of such diverse composers, was amazing. Clearly, there was more at work than dexterity; there was brain power coupled with a keen integration of ensemble down to the smallest detail. I'd be hard put to remember any trio who played with such total commitment to the music." ~ S a n F r a n c i s c o C l a s s i c a l V o i c e
"The three sisters played with a maturity and musical insight rarely found in artists twice their ages. There was a wonderful freshness about their approach - the music was made to seem newly discovered and a cause for general delight." ~ M u s i c a l O p i n i o n

--------
BRAVO Youth Orchestras transforms the lives of underserved youth through intensive orchestral music education. Oregon Symphony Music Director Carlos Kalmar says,
"The work you are doing is amazing. BRAVO brings the best music education to where it is needed most."
Launched in 2013, BRAVO now serves over 350 students at two of Portland's poorest public schools. Our students have performed with world-class artists including violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, cellist Alban Gerhardt, and members of the Oregon Symphony. BRAVO has played for the Governor, the Mayor, the Oregon House of Representatives, and City and County Commissioners. BRAVO is inspired by El Sistema, Venezuela's revolutionary program of social change through music that started in 1975. There are now El Sistema-inspired programs in more than 55 countries around the world, and there are over 100 affiliated organizations in the US. BRAVO is the first in Oregon.
The Lee Trio has generously offered to partner with BRAVO for an afternoon musical soiree. In order to provide our program tuition-free to some of the poorest families in Portland, BRAVO energetically raises funds throughout the year. The opportunity to partner with international-caliber artists like the Lee Trio is an amazing opportunity for our young musicians and for BRAVO as an organization. VBC is an ideal venue for this concert- a multi-cultural church will have a special appreciation for the diversity of the schools we serve, where students come from around the world and 18 languages are spoken. Also, we have many supporters and donors in the Beaverton and Hillsboro area who can readily experience a enlightened musical afternoon in their neighborhood. Lastly, Lisa, the violinist of the trio and resident of Portland, can serve as a bridge between BRAVO and the church community for planning and outreach purposes.
