About Jetty Rae:
Jetty, currently based in Ann Arbor, is originally from Northern Michigan and has been singing, touring, and recording for the past five years. Jetty became inspired to create music and picked up the guitar while living in Hawaii. During her time in Hawaii, she also joined the rap and hip-hop group Soul Chronicle, and toured the Hawaiian Islands, as well as mainland China with them. Her short stint with Soul Chronicle opened up other doors for her to record with other hip-hop groups such as The S.O.G. crew.
With studio experience under her belt, Jetty left the Independent hip-hop world for a more organic, folk sound. She began writing her first album, Blackberries (LP 2007), borrowing money from her Grandma to produce it. This album opened the door for Jetty to tour her home of Northern Michigan at numerous festivals and venues including: the Traverse City Film Festival, the National Cherry Festival, and Blissfest, to name a few.
She has also performed in The Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn New York, The Grand Traverse Opera House, DTE Energy Center, Big Ticket Festival and has played in cities ranging from Fort Worth and LA, to Chicago and Brooklyn.
Jetty also recently caught the eye and ears of MTV.com's "Needle In The Haystack." Her song "I Love You," was selected for a free download of the week and she was featured in an interview for their blog.
Jetty's influences include Jennifer Knapp, Brandi Carlile, Cat Power, Ray Lamontagne, Lauryn Hill, Patty Griffin, and many more. With songwriting as her forte and a powerful voice, Jetty marries her words to her melodies in a way that pulls at the heartstrings of her audience as well as awakens a passion in her listeners.
Jetty's main goal in her music is to connect with her audience and evoke a change in her listeners, "It doesn't matter if I am playing for ten people, or a thousand people it's that one person who is touched, that one person who doesn't feel alone anymore. That's the power of music -- and that's why I do this."
Tickets are $15/each, Kids 14 and under are FREE!
