Bay Ridge Short Film Concert
TD Bank presents The Bay Ridge Short Film Concert on Saturday, May 12th!  An evening of the world's best short films with a special appearance by The Rhapsody Players.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (Bay Ridge, Brooklyn) - Asbury Shorts, New York City's longest        running short film exhibition, presents their acclaimed program of award-winning international films known as
"The Short Film Concert" on Saturday May 12, at St. Patrick's Church - located at 401 97th Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Tickets cost $20 and the festivities begin at 7:00pm with a special performance by the popular singing group: The Rhapsody Players. The films hit the screen at 7:45pm. TD Bank is co-presenting the event along with BrooklynONEtheater+Film.

Four-time Academy Award nominated Director Jason Reitman ("JUNO", "Up in the Air", "Thank You for Smoking," and the current "Young Adult") calls Asbury Shorts: "The Best Short Film Show I've ever seen!" Screening classic shorts, combined with new international festival winners, ASNY provides a rare opportunity for the public to see world-class films on the big screen, in a theatrical setting. Highlights include:

-"Super Powers," a six-minute comedy by New York Directors John Mitchell and Jeremy Kipp Walker.
"Best of Show" Winner at The 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. A young married couple tries to spice up their lives with some super hero role playing.while in the midst of an apartment move.

-"Our Time is Up," the 2006 Oscar Nominee for Best Short Film from Los Angeles director Rob Pearlstein. Therapist Dr. Leonard Stern, played by acclaimed actor Kevin Pollack, discovers he has six weeks to live.

Based in Bay Ridge, the immensely talented Rhapsody Players have thrilled audiences since 2006 with fantastic performances of popular songs from the '50's, '60's and '70's. They have successfully raised funds for senior centers, churches, schools, rehabilitation centers and organizations such as Meals on Wheels.  Traveling throughout the boroughs they have amassed a large following of enthusiastic fans who enjoy their outstanding stage presence and tight harmonies. They will perform a set before the films and during intermission.

BrooklynONEtheater+film was founded in 2006 as a haven for emerging artists to hone their craft in a supportive environment. Focusing on the importance of new and original works, the company produces innovative, experimental and creative performances providing its audiences a first hand look at works in development as well as original content shows and concert performances.  BrooklynONE has produced works from playwrights of all ages and locations throughout the world. It has also produced a feature length film that was an official selection at the 2010 Hoboken and Staten Island Film Festivals.

The "Shorts Concerts" have been presented at The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Royal Festival Hall in London, The Lake Shore Theater in Chicago, The Director's Guild Theater in Manhattan, Visions Cinema in D.C., SUMMER STAGE in Central Park and Leminske Theater in Berlin, to name a few of the prestigious venues where the world's best shorts have entertained audiences over the past 15 years.
