This is the fall conference of the Connecticut Social Work Oncology Group. These conferences are held twice a year on pertinent topics for oncology social workers or other health care professionals working with oncology patients. This conference will focus on sex and cancer.
The presenter will be Michael Sand, PhD, MPH
Dr. Sand is the senior author of the M.A.L.E.S. and F.E.M.A.L.E.S. research projects and has served for 14 years on the Board of the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada (SIECCAN). He has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed abstracts, papers and book chapters in human sexuality. He is certified as a Clinical Sexologist and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Sexology.
This conference is intended to provide the learner with:
New perspectives / insights into their own views about human sexuality, and how those views can impact on the services they deliver to patients.
A more in-depth understanding of the importance of sexuality in clients living with cancer.
A model for assisting clients with sexuality issues, including making appropriate referrals.
An opportunity to share and discuss cases with a Clinical Sexologist.
